Background

Liverpool Innovation Park is a well established business park located approximately 2 miles from Liverpool city centre. It offers a range of facilities, including office space, formal and informal meeting rooms, a gym, coffee outlet, and a recently developed Travelodge hotel. The park required tailored car park management solutions for its two main car parks, which serve both visitors/customers and staff.

Issue

The business park’s management faced significant challenges in balancing adequate parking provision for both staff and visitors. They required a simple, well-managed system to ensure that only authorised staff and genuine visitors could use the car parks. The need to prevent unauthorised parking and misuse was increasing rapidly.

At the same time, they wanted to ensure the legitimate users were not wrongly penalised. With multiple organisations operating within the park, they needed a flexible yet robust solution that could be adapted to meet the varying needs of different businesses.

Solutions

Online Permit System

We introduced an online permit system to streamline and control parking access across the business park. Each business within the site was allocated a set number of staff permits, with every staff vehicle easily applying for permit.

We set up a simple online platform similar to a webpage of an website where staff members could apply for a parking permit by entering their vehicle and employment details and later their registration was added to the secure permit database.

This system ensured that only authorised staff vehicles could park in designated areas, while visitors were directed to separate parking zones. As a result, it created a clear separation between staff and visitor parking, reducing misuse and improving overall parking management efficiently across the sites.

Smooth Visitor Parking System

A managed visitor parking system was also introduced to ensure smooth and controlled access for guests across the business park. As part of our own no upfront cost service, iPads were installed at key entry points throughout the site, allowing businesses to easily register visitor vehicles.

Visitors’s vehicle registration details were to be entered into the system along with the details of the business or office they are visiting. This ensures accurate tracking and prevents unauthorised use of visitor spaces.

For certain businesses, tailored parking criteria were introduced, such as a standard 4-hour parking allowance once a visitor is registered via the iPad system. This provided flexibility while maintaining fair usage across the site.

In addition, individual businesses were given the ability to adjust visitor parking durations and manage their approved visitor lists on specific days. This was particularly useful during events such as business conventions, meetings, or peak operational periods, ensuring parking could be adapted to meet changing on-site demands.

Online Portal System

An online portal system was also developed to give business owners and operational managers full control over their parking allocations and user management.
This centralised platform allowed authorised users to easily add, update, or remove vehicle details for staff, customers or specific visitors.

This system was particularly useful for selected businesses including the newly opened Travelodge. It enabled the hotel operational team to manage guest parking efficiently by registering vehicle details in advance and ensuring spaces were used appropriately.

We supported the full setup of the system, provided hands-on training for all relevant users, and offered ongoing assistance whenever required. This ensured smooth adoption and allowed each business to confidently manage their own parking arrangements through a simple and reliable digital platforms.

On-going Customer Support

Our dedicated customer support department is available to assist with any parking related queries that may arise across the different businesses within the park.

This ensured that both staff and management teams always have access to prompt and reliable assistance whenever needed.

We also help resolve any confusion regarding permits, visitor registrations or system usage, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations across all car parks. In addition, we provide ongoing support with the maintenance of the car park facilities, helping to keep the site well-managed, compliant, and operating efficiently at all times.

Outcome

The solutions implemented across the business parks have worked effectively in improving overall parking management and operational efficiency. The introduction of the online permit system, managed visitor parking system, and centralised portal has helped create a structured and controlled approach to parking allocation for both staff and visitors.

As a result, instances of unauthorised parking have been significantly reduced, while genuine users now benefit from a clearer and more reliable parking experience.

Overall, the system has delivered a well-organised, fair and efficient parking environemt that supports the smooth day-to-day operation of all businesses on site.
