The Bathurst Estate is a historical and scenic estate that has a car park for its visitors who come to enjoy the location, park, countryside route, and even local amenities. Due to the site’s evolution, the parking requirements have evolved with a rising demand for flexible car park management.
The car park required a flexible parking service that could serve multiple user groups like day time visitors, customers of an increasingly famous restaurant on site and a local company using part of the site during weekdays. The variance of users was causing mismanaged parking that lacked flexibility for different users.
The car park also required enforcement to prevent misuse of parking space yet it was equally vital to showcase welcoming experience for each visitor. To narrow it down, the restaurant on site’s guests needed to be exempted from charges when visiting the restaurant and local business on site needed a straightforward way to log vehicles for free or longer stay hours.
Further, the estate had a particular branding and aesthetic that had to be incorporated with signage as well. The usage of car park was also highly growing overtime that showed the need to expand the Pay and Stay area for more visitors with need for more robust infrastructure.
The signal reliability at the location was also a growing concern that impacted payment reliability and the machine’s performance.
To tackle these challenges, we implemented collaborative parking solutions that fit well with the estate’s needs and management style.
1) Pay & Stay Solution: We introduced a pay & stay solution to increase the number of visitors and included a clear and compliant time-based payment. It maintained a good flow of visitors visiting and leaving the car park.
2) Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) Enforcement: In order to discourage misuse of the car park and monitor usage, ANPR systems were implemented that helped the estate to charge people if they were not abiding by parking criteria for the site.
3) Designated Parking Days: To create more flexibility, the usage of certain usage on particular days was initiated for the local business on the site. It also helped manage overflow flexibility outside of working hours for the car park.
4) Installing iPads: We installed iPad on the site and set up a login portal on the restaurant’s device. It enabled the restaurant staff to add guest’s vehicle registration on the portal for free parking.
5) Upgraded Payment Machines: We installed upgraded payment machines on the site to tackle the ongoing signal issues. It helped solve issues that caused visitors to pay for their parking and boosted reliability.
6) Estate Friendly Signage Design: We designed and installed signage that aligned with estate-approved colours, fonts, and logos to meet their branding voice. It was ensured that our signage for the car park remained consistent with the surroundings of the estate.
7) Adjusted Enforcement Procedure: The enforcement procedures were adjusted to ensure the visitor’s experience is not compromised. We ensured a softer approach was used where required to balance the revenue stream and not interrupt the visitor experience.
